TG - Sabot Brass CSTP  Confederate States Two Piece Belt Plate.

I use battlefield dug brass shell sabots to cast belt plates. I can only cast these when I have enough shell sabot brass to make a run of several buckles. Beautiful buckles and a collectors item that is part of our civil war history. Buckles have a high copper content that gives them that red brass look.

Original CS two piece dug near Hanover Court House, Virginia  and a reproduction.

I dug my first US belt plate in 1955 and shown is my 1200th belt plate I dug in 1986.

From 1986 until 2007 I have dug a couple hundred more. If I go back and count the US box plates and Eagle breast plates it will bring the total close to 3000. If you add up fifty three years  relic hunting and several years relic hunting just about every day, that's not that many.
